Profile Description

Dr. Rishi Ramoutar is a psychiatrist with over 14 years of experience dedicated to enhancing mental health care in Trinidad and beyond. His clinical expertise and collaborative problem-solving approach have made significant impacts in various psychiatric settings. Dr. Ramoutar has experience in managing complex cases, developing and implementing effective treatment plans, and providing guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
Currently serving as a Psychiatrist at the Psychiatry Unit, Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Dr. Ramoutar oversees daily clinical operations, performs diagnostic evaluations, and leads inpatient psychiatric teams. As the Managing Director of Wellnest Caribbean Mental Health Specialists Limited, he directs the implementation of comprehensive mental health services, develops quality assurance guidelines, and leads public education campaigns to raise awareness about mental health conditions.
Dr. Ramoutar is also a Consultant Psychiatrist at Intellimed Clinic and AB Family Medical Clinic, where he manages psychiatry services across two outpatient clinics, supervises clinical psychologists and general practitioners, and engages in public education to increase mental health awareness. His leadership roles extend to training primary care doctors in depression screening and motivational interviewing, as selected by the Ministry of Health.
With a strong foundation in research, Dr. Ramoutar is actively conducting clinical audits and studies aimed at improving mental health treatment protocols.
