Dr. Godfrey Araujo is an orthopedic surgeon with extensive experience in the field. He obtained his MBBS degree from the University of the West Indies, Mona, in 1987 and further pursued his specialization in Orthopaedics and Trauma in the UK from 1990 to 1995. With his FRCS Ed. and FRCPS Glasg qualifications, he demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining standards of patient care. Dr. Araujo has a strong background in diagnosing and treating a wide range of orthopedic conditions and injuries.
Throughout his career, he has served as a Registrar and Acting Consultant in Orthopaedics at Port of Spain General Hospital, gaining experience in managing diverse orthopedic cases. Since 2004, Dr. Araujo has been a Private Consultant in Orthopaedics at the Fracture & Orthopaedic Clinic, where he focuses on trauma, hand, and upper limb surgery. He is proficient in performing surgical interventions, including joint replacements, fracture repairs, and hand surgeries.
Dr. Araujo actively participates in conferences and continuing education programs to stay informed about advancements in orthopedic surgery and trauma management. He has established collaborations with hand surgeons in other countries to enhance treatment options and referrals for complex cases. Additionally, he maintains an interest in the management of trauma and arthritic conditions.
Mr. Godfrey Martin Araujo holds a B.Sc. and studied languages (French, Spanish, and Latin) and modern studies, including Geography and Economics at St. Mary’s College before pursuing a degree at UWI St. Augustine in Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. After completing his internship in 1989, he spent five years in the UK specializing in Orthopaedics, attaining the FRCS Ed. and FRCS Glasg qualifications in 1993. Upon returning to Trinidad in 1995, he joined the Government service at Port of Spain General Hospital, where he served until 2007 when he transitioned fully into private practice to develop his sub-specialty interest in Hand and Upper Limb Surgery.
Dr. Araujo holds membership in several orthopedic societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
